Fresh vegetables were for sale in the market. They seemed cheap to us, but we later learned that many local people could not afford to buy these vegetables, or at least they were very expensive for them. There are no photos here of the Institute for Cybernetics, which in the Soviet era had hundreds of researchers. There were still hundreds of researchers, but their salaries were fifty dollars a month, not enough to live on. In Moscow our tour guide had a degree in engineering.
