There were eight or nine horses per race. They came in and paraded around here. Each one has a stall. The trainers talked to them, soothed them, sometimes stretched or massaged their front legs. One race was a "maiden" race, for horses who had never raced before. Those young horses were nervous, probably because of all the people. In the other races, the horses had been there and done that, and just wanted to get on with the race.
