More old artwork. Japan's people descend directly from the first inhabitants, who were there ten thousand years ago. They came to Japan when it was still joined to Korea by land (so boats weren't required). They lived by hunting the "elephants" that then roamed Japan. Life improved markedly when technology advanced to the point where hooks and nets were developed and fishing began. That of course was long before these pictures were made, but for at least a couple of thousand years, fishing has been very important in Japan. |
